This Sunday, we begin our sermon series “Prepare Ye the Way”. The first sermon in the series, “Trout Fishing in America,” will focus on Jesus’ call of the disciples in Matthew 4:18-22. Jesus says, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Without hesitation, the disciples respond in complete obedience, not because they are so special or brave, but because Jesus’ call is so compelling. As we listen to this story from scripture, we ourselves ask, “Would I be able to do that – just drop everything and follow Jesus without hesitation?” We also wonder what “fishing for people” in 21st century America looks like. Many of us cringe at the use of the metaphor because it sounds manipulative or possibly even deceitful. Yet, Jesus calls us, too, “Come, follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Join us for worship now to learn more about God’s power to “prepare the way” and empower ordinary people to complete extraordinary tasks and multiply the faith. – In Christ, Rev.
