TODAY’S SERMON

A friend of mine recently posted on social media that she just purchased new glasses. She posted because she was so excited to see the world clearly. She hadn’t realized how blurry her vision had become until she got her new lenses. In a weird way, one of the gifts of the many challenges we have faced in 2020 is a new perspective or way of seeing. We have a new, clearer vision of our relationship with nature, with our immediate communities, with the global community, and with God. I wonder, in light of these new insights, “what have we learned about love during 2020?” Come to worship and begin to think about how the letter of 1 John informs our understanding of systemic racism and possibilities for reconciliation between White and Black Americans. – In Christ, Minister of Adult Ministries Rev.
