TODAY’S SERMON

I think it really hit me on Wednesday morning, driving into church. The sun looked different. I didn’t think anything of it until I read the paper, and found that the light orange haze was the result of the smoke from West Coast wildfires. The smoke made it all the way to us. All those fires are real.

And of course we aren’t just dealing with fires. We have increasing pandemic deaths, racial unrest, and a string of hurricanes and tropical storms seemingly in the “queue” as they make their way towards the United States. The news doesn’t hesitate to characterize these events as “apocalyptic,” with images of the eerie orange skies over San Francisco.

Are they right? What are we to make of these seemingly endless events? Where is God in all of this? This week’s worship will speak to an ancient text that may help us understand modern events. As God spoke at the Tower of Babel, God may be speaking to us today, if we are willing to listen. Come join us for worship and let’s tune into that voice together, so that we all might find hope. – In Christ, Lead Pastor Pete Moon
