WATCH TODAY’S SERVICE
This past week, I had the privilege of reading through all the surveys that you offered during our recent “Grace Still Works” study. I have to tell you how impressed I was with the deep level of reflection and thought. Many of you worked so hard on this study and I am grateful! Next week, our Church Council will be reviewing all the results as we begin work on our long range plan.
I was particularly fascinated with your interviews. As a reminder, all of us were asked to speak with someone we know who doesn’t attend church to hear their perspective about faith. A few of you did this, and it is clear that we have challenges in front of us. In various ways, you named the difficulties in reaching a generation around us who has seemingly little desire for faith in general and church in particular.
In our worship service, we are going to talk about this challenge. In today’s reading, John 12:20-33, some outsiders to the faith whom the Bible calls “the Greeks,” approach Jesus’ followers saying “Sir, we would see Jesus.” Those words became the occasion for Jesus to clarify that his ultimate desire was to reach not only them but all the outsiders to the faith. But how? How do we reach these “Greeks” today? Come join us for worship now to talk about this more. – In Christ, Rev. Dr. Pete Moon
