TODAY’S SERMON
Many years ago, I had a chance to meet with an incredible pastor named Conrado Soltero. He served a little church in El Paso, Texas. His congregation was located just a few blocks from the border with one of the most violent cities on the continent, Juarez, Mexico.
Conrado and I had dinner together and then he took me up to a very high mountain overlooking the cities of El Paso and Juarez. As we looked upon this place of such strife, he spoke to me about his hope, about how God could yet do something in such a severe place as Juarez, Mexico. I was amazed at the man. He was 82 and had been called out of retirement six times to serve struggling Hispanic churches. Even so, his eyes radiated with hope and possibilities that could yet be by God’s grace.
Today in worship, we are going to look through Conrado’s eyes, and even more specifically, through the eyes of Jesus as we look at all the problems around us. Jesus reminds us that something incredible has occurred in his arrival. As we have learned through these past weeks, because of God’s grace, there is “good news.” There is hope because as he says, “the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.”
In this day and age, we all need to find that vision of hope. Come join us to be reminded of what God can yet do, in Juarez, in Richmond, or in our life. – In Christ, Pastor Pete

“GRACE STILL WORKS” VISIONING STUDY
Join us @ 10:00 am in Sunday School
You are invited to take part in a churchwide study of the book “Grace Still Works” written by Rev. Dr. Pete Moon, Sundays through February 14. Each week, the sermon will correspond to what we are learning in Sunday school and you will answer a survey our Church Council will use to establish a vision for Reveille in the coming years. The study is designed to help our congregation think about what we believe and put those beliefs to work in a way that changes us and our community. If you are not part of a Sunday school class or study group already, please sign up for a class now with Rev. Moon, Sundays on Zoom through February 14, at either 10:00 am or 5:00 pm. Learn more
