TODAY’S SERMON

Last year, Marc Randolph, the co-founder and current CEO of Netflix, wrote the story of the company in a book entitled That Will Never Work. It is a fascinating description of the genesis of this now famous and massive company. There are many twists and turns to the account but thematic is the number of times he heard the classic creative energy killing line, “That will never work.”

Every single one of us has heard that line, especially today. There is some fairness to it. We are in a season of high need and very few things can actually “bring it” to facilitate the changes for which we all, individual and community, yearn.

Today, and for the next six weeks, we are going to make a culturally outlandish claim. There is something that can actually bring it even in this day and age, something that can change us and the world when nothing else can. That one thing is grace. Grace still works. History, scripture, and the testimony of billions throughout history testify to the truth of the claim.

Let’s talk more about this because grace may be deeper and even more powerful than we think. I invite you to join us for worship now because it is increasingly easy to simply say “That will never work.” As we will see, grace can still bring it, even now. – In Christ, Pastor Pete

“GRACE STILL WORKS” VISIONING STUDY

Begins January 17 @ 10:00 am in Sunday School

You are invited to take part in a churchwide study of the book “Grace Still Works” written by Rev. Dr. Pete Moon, January 17-February 14. Each week, the sermon will correspond to what we are learning in Sunday school and you will answer a survey our Church Council will use to establish a vision for Reveille in the coming years. The study is designed to help our congregation think about what we believe and put those beliefs to work in a way that changes us and our community. If you are not part of a Sunday school class or study group already, please sign up for a class now with Rev. Moon, Sundays on Zoom, January 17-February 14, at either 10:00 am or 5:00 pm. Learn more
