TODAY’S SERMON

I always find it fascinating to watch the various movies over the decades about the life of Jesus. Some are great; others do not quite get there. Perhaps the greatest challenge in the films is John the Baptist. Some talented actors have played John in those movies, such as Charlton Heston, Michael York, and a few others. As gifted as they are, as they put on those camel skins and shout, “repent,” to the crowds, they just do not seem to pull it off. Actors can do Jesus, but John…not so much.

Today in worship, we are going to give it a go. There is so much in this character, much of it misunderstood and overlooked by our focus on the trappings of John’s dress and diet. Come join us at the Jordan River. I think you will be surprised at the power, the hope, and even the comfort that we find there in this elusive and mysterious prophet of the desert. – In Christ, Lead Pastor Rev. Dr. Pete Moon

ALL-AGES ADVENT SUNDAY SCHOOL @ 10:00 AM

Children, youth, and adults are invited to join together on Sunday mornings during Advent at 10:00 am on Zoom for brief study on the Biblical understanding of the words: Peace (December 6), Joy (December 13), and Love (December 20). After the video, children, youth, and adults will break out into their regular Sunday school classes.

Reveille is offering candles blessed in worship to members and their neighbors to use on Christmas Eve. Come pick up candles by entering the welcome center doors on Sunday, December 6, noon to 2:00 pm.
