TODAY’S SERMON

There are of course many downsides to this season of COVID-19 but there is one small silver lining: “Hamilton” has come to us in a movie. It is now available and in reach to many. One of the themes of the play comes from a song offered by two of the characters, Angelica Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton. They describe how they and the other will “never be satisfied.” They are always asking for more in life, more to achieve, and more to learn, because as Hamilton thematically sings, “I am not going to throw away my shot…”

In contrast, Paul speaks to us from the book of Philippians saying, “I have learned the secret of being content.” What does that mean? What has he learned? How can I find a bit of peace and satisfaction when so many forces drive me to the next thing, the next adventure, the next challenge? Come join us for worship online today and let’s talk more about it. As we will see the secret is easy to know but hard to learn. – Lead Pastor Pete Moon
