TODAY’S SERMON
It is probably not as common now, but I remember various conversations with folks, some of whom served with me years ago in the military. They would speak to the priority of their lives with the phrase “God first, then family, then country.” I remember as a young man thinking that the simplicity and clarity made some sense but as the years have progressed, I have sometimes wondered what it really means. Like many phrases, it sounds reasonable, even laudable, but becomes hard when you actually try to figure out how to live your life by it.
The expression does however beg a question. How do we organize our soul? How do we align and structure our lives so that we are actually living according to the things that really matter and that are most critical in the eyes of God? This week in worship, the apostle Paul is going to invite us to a different organizing principle: to structure our lives by grace. As we will see, this grace can change us and our world if we give ourselves to it. Let’s talk more and we will see you today in worship! – Lead Pastor Pete Moon
