Ash Wednesday Services

Ash Wednesday Services

The season of Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18, and we invite you to reflective and prayerful worship services at Reveille with the imposition of ashes at noon (chapel) or 7:00 pm (sanctuary, livestream). Child care will be available for each service in room 102. Following the noon service, Reveille’s United Women in Faith will hold a soup lunch featuring soup, salad, bread, and a drink in the youth center. A to-go option will be available. There is a suggested donation of $10 for lunch, and proceeds benefit the UWF Global Mission.

Rev. Gary Mears will preach at our noon service. The title of his sermon is “Lent: Faith & Deeds,” using the scriptures Psalm 51:1-17 and Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21. Gary Mears is a retired Presbyterian pastor who felt a call to the ministry after a 25+ year career as a business executive in the Washington, D.C. area. He attended Wesley Theological Seminary. Gary and his wife, Lisa, recently joined Reveille.

Rev. Dr. Art Thomas will preach at our 7:00 pm service. The title of his sermon is “Repentance is the Key,” using scriptures from Isaiah 58:1-12, Psalm 51:1-17, and Matthew 6:16-21. Rev. Dr. Art Thomas is an adjunct professor of church history and spirituality at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and a retired United Methodist elder, who has been attending Reveille since 2019.
