Study Overview: Rev. Dr. Peter Moon’s new book, Sunday school study, and weekly sermons will be grounded in Jesus’ claim that the time has come, the kingdom is near, and we will follow his guidance to “seek first the kingdom of God.” Each week, January 11-February 15, will offer a reminder of the priority of the kingdom in Jesus’ ministry and the opportunities for personal and churchwide renewal when we, like him, seek this kingdom first.

Reveille UMC’s Definition of Discipleship: “Discipleship is following Jesus Christ and working together to serve the Kingdom of God.”

Study Outline:

We have created a six-week customized church-wide study utilizing the first five chapters of Rev. Dr. Peter Moon’s book, The Time Has Come, original videos, weekly sermons, the GPS weekly scripture guide, and weekly small group lessons incorporating chapter readings and discussion questions.

Course Content:

• Week 1: January 11 – “The Time Has Come I: Kingdom Possibilities,” Scriptures: Matthew 6:25-34, Mark 1:14-15, Read Chapter 1, Class Video and Discussion
• Week 2: January 18 – “The Time Has Come II: The Kingdom is Near: Now What?” Scriptures: Isaiah 61:1-6, Mark 4:1-12, Read Chapter 2, Class Video and Discussion
• Week 3: January 25 – “The Time Has Come III: Sermon TBD,” Guest Preacher Bishop Tom Berlin at 8:30 and 11:00 am, and State of the Church meeting during the Sunday school at 9:30 am in the fellowship hall.
• Week 4: February 1 – “The Time Has Come IV: The Upside Down Kingdom,” Scriptures: Matthew 18:1-5, Matthew 5:1-11, Read Chapter 3, Class Video and Discussion
• Week 5: February 8 – “The Time Has Come V: Kingdom Style Diversity,” Scriptures: Isaiah 56:1-8, Revelation 7:9-12, Read Chapter 4, Class Video and Discussion
• Week 6: February 15 – “The Time Has Come VI: What About Justice?” Scriptures: Isaiah 42:1-9, Matthew 25:31-46, Read Chapter 5, Class Video and Discussion
