History
Reveille Methodist Church was formed in 1951 from a merger between Union Station Methodist Church and Monument Methodist Church. On June 24, 1951, the new combined church held its first service at Thomas Jefferson High School. Soon after, the building committee secured nearby Reveille House and its grounds (known as the “Seven Acres Set Apart”). The name, Reveille, associated with “awakening,” was adopted for the church and on October 31, 1954, services were held in the new sanctuary at the present location on Cary Street Road.
The church grew rapidly and added a fellowship hall and classrooms in 1962. In 1965, Reveille Weekday School opened and it has grown to be regarded as one of the city’s finest preschools. The Garth at Reveille was completed and dedicated in 1994. This beautiful cloistered garden is a peaceful space for reflection and includes a consecrated garden of remembrance for the burial of ashes.
Reveille continues to grow and thrive. In May 2012, the church added a youth center, choir room, welcome center, and chapel. In June 2026, Reveille celebrated its 75th anniversary with a joyful worship service and luncheon.
