Advent and Christmas at Reveille

Celebrate the season at Reveille!

The Joy of Giving

Shop Glorious Gifts and Support Outreach Ministries
Glorious Gifts is an alternative way of shopping for Christmas gifts while supporting the outreach ministries of Reveille. Each of our outreach ministries has created a shopping list of needed items that you can “buy.” Instead of receiving the item, you will receive a card that you can give as a gift. Shop for Glorious Gifts online at www.reveilleumc.org/glorious-gifts. You can also shop in person in the welcome center on December 8 and 15.

Poinsettia Dedications
Dedicate poinsettias in honor or memory of a loved one and help beautify our worship spaces, December 15-24. To have your dedication included in the poinsettia gift listing on December 15, place your order online at www.bit.ly/poinsettia-revumc. You can also complete and return the paper form (available from the worship check-in tables) with your donation by December 2. The suggested donation per poinsettia is $20.

Advent and Christmas Offering Supports Disaster Recovery
This year’s Advent and Christmas offering will support disaster relief in the United States. Donations to the offering will aid two efforts:

  • Reveille is forming an UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) team.  Reveille’s team will be deployed in late spring or early summer 2025 to assist with recovery efforts in Western North Carolina which was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene during late September. This year’s Advent and Christmas offering will help provide the supplies and materials needed to equip the team. If you would like to learn more or are interested in joining Reveille’s team, please contact Bo Bowden.
  • The offering will also support UMCOR’s U.S. Disaster Response. UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, is the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church. Through it’s U.S. Disaster Response, UMCOR seeks to alleviate suffering caused by disasters that strike within the United States and its territories. UMCOR journeys with affected communities throughout a disaster’s cycle, including disaster preparedness, relief, response, recovery, and mitigation. Learn more about UMCOR’s U.S. Disaster Response here.

Donate now to support these disaster relief efforts through the Advent and Christmas Offering.  To donate by cash or check, please be sure to note “Advent Offering” on your check or offering envelope.

Share Christmas Joy with a Child at UMFS
This Christmas, we invite you to choose gift items for a child in foster care being served by United Methodist Family Services using our online form. Your generosity will bring joy to a child in need. Select a child now. Gifts are due by Sunday, December 8.

Advent and Christmas

Sermon Series: “Voice of the Angels,” December 1-22
Sundays: 8:30, 9:30, 11:00 am, online anytime
The voices are in the background, but the angels still have a pivotal role in the Christmas story. Throughout these weeks of Advent and Christmas, we will hear their words once again through our sermon series, “Voice of the Angels.” As we will see, their words still speak clearly into the hopes and fears of all the years, especially now.

Reveille Ringers Performances at the VMFA, December 6
Enjoy an evening of Christmas music by our Reveille Ringers on Friday, December 6, with free performances at 6:00 and 7:00 pm at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in the Cochrane Atrium. If you can’t attend either performance, the Ringers invite you to their dress rehearsal on December 2 at 8:15 pm in the youth center. To reserve your seat at the rehearsal, email Daniel Banke.

Christmas Concert and Open House, December 15
You’re invited to our “Angels We Have Heard on High” all-ages Christmas concert on Sunday, December 15, at 4:00 pm in Reveille’s sanctuary. Also, join us for our annual open house reception before the concert starting at 3:00 pm in the welcome center.

Help Organize and Clean Up Pews for Christmas Eve
As we approach Christmas Eve, and even on Christmas Eve, we want to have our sanctuary pews looking their best. We are requesting helpers in mid-December to sharpen pencils and straighten up racks, on December 23 to put out guest cards in pews, and on December 24 to clean up after the 5:30 pm service. If you can help, please sign up here.

Combined Worship Service, December 29
We will hold one combined worship service in the sanctuary at 10:00 am on Sunday, December 29.
