Rise Against Hunger

Reveille UMC

You helped package more than 20,000 meals!

Thank you to over 200 volunteers who came out on Sunday, October 9, 2016 to pack over 20,000 nutritious, dehydrated meals for the international hunger-relief organization Stop Hunger Now.

We are delighted to announce that the meals from Reveille's meal packaging event were shipped in a container totaling 285,120 meals from the Richmond, VA warehouse. The meals were received by an in-country partner, Convoy of Hope in Nicaragua.

Convoy of Hope, a 501(c)3 faith-based nonprofit, has served more than 55 million people throughout the world through international children's feeding initiatives, community outreaches, disaster response and partner resourcing. This container of meals will go to Convoy of Hope's programs in Nicaragua. These meals will support schools across the country through their ongoing feeding program in the Latin America Child Care schools (LACC). This initiative was started in 2007 and Convoy of Hope is currently currently feeding 6,345 children at 40 feeding sites. For more information on Convoy of hope, please visit their website.

Rise Against Hunger, formerly Stop Hunger Now, will take place at Reveille October 1.

About Stop Hunger Now
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime. The organization provides food and life-saving aid to the world’s most destitute and hungry, primarily through school feeding programs and shipments to areas in crisis situations.

Stop Hunger Now meals are highly nutritious, dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, flavorings, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals. The meals are easy to transport, store, and distribute to those in greatest need. Each meal package provides food for six people.

Meals are packaged by volunteers through a fun and engaging assembly line process.  Reveille UMC partners with Stop Hunger Now to package at least 20,000 meals each fall.
