Rise Against HungerSunday, October 6
Reveille UMC will pack meals for Rise Against Hunger on Sunday, October 6. Take the next step to end hunger in our lifetime by helping us reach our goal to package over 25,000 meals. Working together we can create a world without hunger.
Setup: 2:15-3:15 pm
Shift 1 Meal Packaging: 3:15-5:00 pm
Shift 2 Meal Packaging: 5:30-7:00 pm
Clean up: 7:00-8:00 pm
Setup is open to adults and a few helpers are needed that can easily carry 50 pounds or more.
Shift 1 is open to everyone ages 5 and up. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together before children’s Sunday evening music programs.
Reveille’s youth will help pack during Shift 2 as part of our regular Sunday youth group. This shift is also open to adults who would like to serve.
Help is needed cleaning up following the event, 7:00-8:00 pm.
Rise Against Hunger
Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now) is an international hunger relief organization whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime. The organization provides food and life-saving aid to the world’s most destitute and hungry, primarily through school feeding programs and shipments to areas in crisis situations.
Rise Against Hunger meals are highly nutritious, dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, flavorings, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals. The meals are easy to transport, store, and distribute to those in greatest need. Each meal package provides food for six people.
Meals are packaged by volunteers through a fun and engaging assembly line process. Reveille UMC partners with Rise Against Hunger to package approximately 25,000 meals each fall.
