Past 2018 Music Ministry Events

May 6 | Children’s Annual MusicalChildren's musical
The children’s musical this year takes place on Sunday, May 6, at 3:30 pm in the sanctuary. The children’s choirs will present Once Upon a Parable by Allen Pote.  In this musical, a group of energetic storytellers try to capture the humor and contemporary nature of some of Jesus’ most familiar parables. Photos

Saturday, May 19 | Organ Recital
Ted Davis will also present a solo organ recital Saturday, May 19, at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary followed by a reception. The recital will commemorate the work that was recently done on our organ. This event is free and open to the public. Event program

Sunday, May 20 | Celebrate the 25th Annual Mission Benefit Concert
Photos
This year’s Mission Benefit Concert will be particularly special as we are joined by Ted Davis, who was the former director of music ministries and organist at Reveille when this tradition started.  On Sunday, May 20, at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary, Ted will direct the Chancel Choir and a chamber orchestra in a performance of Haydn's Nelson Mass, one of Joseph Haydn’s greatest compositions. Soloists include Lisa Edwards Burrs (soprano), Carrie Armistead (alto), Reggie Potts, IV (tenor), and Robert J. Phanord, II (bass). The Reveille Ringers will also participate in the concert. Fittingly, this was the piece that was performed for the first Mission Benefit Concert at Reveille.  This event is free and open to the public.

July 11 | "All Good Gifts" Youth Talent Program
Our youth continue to prepare for their All Good Gifts program on Wednesday, July 11, at 7:00 pm. Plan to attend this summer evening of music, theatre, art, dance, and visual arts. Join us for a delicious spaghetti dinner before the program at 5:30 pm in the fellowship hall.

Singers will present selections from the musical Children of Eden and from the contemporary Christian music repertoire.  Actors are preparing two dynamic dramas: Noah Speaks and Modern Samaritan. Dancers are practicing a modern interpretation of the creation account from Genesis 1. Instrumentalists are preparing for various opportunities, both as an ensemble and as accompanists. Behind the scenes, visual artists are working to bring each of the scriptural themes that are contained in the program to life in creative ways.  Photos
