Music During Lent
Sunday worship during Lent includes music specially chosen to coordinate with the people Jesus encountered on his journey through the wilderness: Satan, Nicodemus, the Samaritan Woman, the Man Born Blind, Lazarus, and the Jerusalem Crowd.
Cornell Chorus in Richmond
Thursday, April 6
Dinner at 5:30 pm | Fellowship Hall
Performance at 7:00 pm | Sanctuary
The Cornell University Chorus, an ensemble comprised of about 50 women, will perform at Reveille as part of their Spring 2017 Atlantic Coast Tour, with a variety of music centered around the simple theme of "Up." The evening will begin with dinner at 5:30 pm, featuring delicious fried chicken, in the fellowship hall. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm in Reveille’s sanctuary, followed by a reception at 8:30 pm in the welcome center. There is no charge to attend the concert, but donations will be accepted by the chorus to help defray the cost of their visit. More information
April 26: Swansboro Elementary Chorus and Reveille Children's Choir in Concert
The Swansboro Elementary School Children’s Choir and Reveille’s Children’s Choirs will hold a very special concert at 6:45 pm, Wednesday, April 26. Join us for the Wonderful Wednesday dinner before the children offer their voices in praise.
Reveille’s talented children’s choirs, led by Assistant Director of Music Tamara Nicely, will offer their spring musical, “It’s Cool in the Furnace,” by Buryl Red. This classic musical is based on the Old Testament story in the Book of Daniel. Make plans to attend the performance at Reveille, May 7, at 4:00 pm.
May 21: Mission Benefit Concert
Reveille UMC and Trinity UMC perform Haydn's "Creation," 7:00 pm, in the sanctuary.
June 25-30: Music and Worship Arts Week at Lake Junaluska
A week-long choir camp for active youth choir members. Please turn in your $100 deposit to Cathy Armistead by February 12 to secure your spot.
July 20-23: Youth Mini Mission Trip
The youth will travel to Northern Virginia for performances and mission opportunities. More details available soon.
August 7-10: Kaleidoscope Music, Worship Arts, and Mission Week
A choir camp for rising third-sixth graders. Note the $100 deposit is due by February 12.

April 13: Swansboro and Reveille Children in Concert
The Swansboro Elementary School choir and Reveille UMC children’s choirs presented a concert on Wednesday, April 13, at 6:45 pm in the Reveille sanctuary. Donations were accepted at the door to benefit Reveille’s Swansboro Community Ministries, which supports ministries in Swansboro such as Dancing Classrooms and Kaleidoscope music camp scholarships. We were uplifted by the energy of our talented children in this fun-filled rendition of the biblical story of Jonah. Oh Jonah! was presented by our children’s vocal and handbell choirs on Sunday, May 1, at 4:00 pm in the sanctuary.
Oh Jonah! was composed by Allen Pote, with text by Allen Pote and Carole McCann.

Reveille is thrilled to offer selections from Elijah, by Felix Mendelssohn. The oratorio depicts events in the life of the Biblical prophet Elijah.
This musical gem, composed 170 years ago, was offered as a joint effort with Trinity UMC on Sunday, May 22, at 7:00 pm in Reveille’s sanctuary, conducted by Dr. Charles Staples, director of music at Trinity. This is Reveille’s annual Mission Benefit Concert, with donations benefiting Reveille’s Swansboro Community Ministries, which supports ministries in Swansboro such as Dancing Classrooms and Kaleidoscope music camp scholarships. June 19-24: Music and Worship Arts Week at Lake Junaluska

August 1-4: Kaleidoscope Music and Missions Camp
Kaleidoscope Music, Worship Arts, and Missions Week is a camp for children entering grades 3-6. In addition to daily choir rehearsals, Kaleidoscope participants joined in many activities and classes exploring the theme “Reflections of God” through handbells, music, games, scripture, worship, and recreation. This year the camp was held at Reveille UMC, August 1-4. Photos
Summer choir sings for the 11:00 am worship service June 5-September 4. There are no weekday rehearsals for summer choir. Simply come to the choir room at 10:30 am on the Sundays you are able, learn the anthem, and sing as part of the service choir for that day. All ages are welcome and many have enjoyed making this a family affair!
Thursday, September 1: Adult Choirs Kickoff
Chancel Choir and Reveille Ringers: Come to the kickoff celebration for the new season on Thursday, September 1, 6:30 pm, at the Armistead’s home. Bring a friend who may be interested in joining us this year. The entrée will be furnished. Please bring a side dish, dessert, or appetizer to share, and be ready for fellowship, food, and fun!
Adult Choirs Fall Kickoffs
The first Chancel Choir rehearsal will be Thursday, September 8, 7:00 pm, in the choir room – all voice parts are needed. The first Reveille Ringers rehearsal will be Monday, September 12, 7:00 pm, in the sanctuary. Interested in joining one of our adult choirs? Contact Cathy Armistead.
Sunday, September 11: Reveille Day
Chancel Choir, CrossPoint, and Youth Choir members will lead music for our Reveille Day worship service at 10:30 am in the sanctuary on Sunday, September 11. Members are reminded to come to the sanctuary at 10:00 am for a warmup.
September 11 and 18: Youth & Children’s Choirs Kickoffs
Children’s choirs, youth choir, and instrumental ensemble begin again on Reveille Day, September 11. Instrumental ensemble begins at 4:00 pm, with youth choir at 4:30 pm, and all children’s choirs between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. Youth bells kickoff the following Sunday, September 18, at 4:00 pm. Learn more about our new Sunday evening schedule.
This event has been cancelled due to busy family schedules. Look for information about rescheduling this outing at a later date.
