Connectional giving—all of us giving together—allows United Methodists to do together what we cannot do alone. We give to generously participate in God’s work and share all that God has given to us. In addition to the gifts you make to Reveille United Methodist Church, second-mile giving opportunities allow you to extend the reach of your generosity to Richmond, to Virginia, and to the world.
When you give on Special Sundays, you enable vital ministries that change the world, one life at a time. Together, United Methodists do remarkable ministry around the world. We care for survivors recovering from earthquakes and storms; we invest, long term, in vulnerable communities; we implement the most effective solutions to diseases like malaria; we equip the next generation to lead the church and society. In all of this, we share the good news of Jesus Christ.
The six special Sundays of The United Methodist Church are: Human Relations Day, One Great Hour of Sharing, Native American Ministries Sunday, Peace with Justice Sunday, World Communion Sunday, and United Methodist Student Day.
Additional Giving Needs
Everyone can support the vital ministries they care about. In addition to the six offerings requested by The United Methodist Church, Reveille participates in the following offerings:
Samaritan Fund, May 14-June 18, 2017
Established in 1945, the mission of Virginia United Methodist Homes is to provide facilities, services, and programs to enhance the quality of life for older persons, helping older adults live as fully and vibrantly as long as they can. Gifts to the Samaritan Fund provide financial assistance for VUMH residents who can no longer meet the expense of their care. The Samaritan Fund offering is received annually from Mother's Day through Father's Day. Learn more about the Samaritan Program.
Virginia Annual Conference Offering, June 4 and 11, 2017
This offering supports United Methodist church-building missions in Cambodia and Mozambique, ministries for at-risk children in Brazil, and funds to help in the long-term recovery of areas in Virginia devastated by tornadoes earlier this year. Reveille receives this offering each year, the first two Sundays of June. Learn more about the Virginia Annual Conference Offering
United Methodist Family Services (UMFS), December 2017
UMFS is a nonprofit agency that provides a comprehensive array of programs to meet the needs of high-risk children and parents to enable them to overcome challenging circumstances and succeed. A national leader in helping children, UMFS also proactively identifies unmet social service needs throughout Virginia and develops appropriate partnerships to address them. Reveille typically receives an offering for UMFS in December. Learn more about UMFS.
