Pledges to Mission
United Methodist women give approximately $20 million a year to world wide missions. These financial gifts are specifically directed for the care and needs of women and children. Members make an annual pledge to support these programs.
Local and Regional Missions
Reveille UMW gives support and or member representation to the following local missions: Hermitage Guild, Interfaith Council, United Methodist Family Services, Covenant Woods, UMUMR, All God’s Children’s Camp, and Westview on the James camperships.
In addition, members participate in mentoring and collection of school supplies for the Chesterfield Women’s Detention and Diversion Center and supporting the YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter.
UMW Nurture and Educational Focus
This area of UMW provides opportunities for members to grow in their faith, both spiritually and intellectually. These areas include:
- participation in UMW Reading Program and access to RESPONSE magazine
- mission schools at the Virginia United Methodist Assembly in Blackstone, VA
- annual Spiritual Life Retreat at Reveille each February
- district-wide meetings, worship, and fellowship involving women from regional UMW churches.
Reveille UMW General Meetings
These quarterly meetings bring together all circle members for programs, worship, information sharing, and reports on mission opportunities. Each meeting follows the National Program guide for mission review and interpretation. We celebrate our accomplishments made possible through our annual pledges to missions.
